Floods caused by the overflowing Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers have brought widespread destruction across Punjab. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), more than 1.5 million people have been affected so far.

Over 2,300 villages have been submerged, forcing authorities to carry out large-scale rescue operations. Nearly half a million residents have been safely evacuated and shifted to secure locations. To support the displaced population, the government has set up 511 relief camps where food, water, and shelter are being provided. In addition, hundreds of medical and veterinary camps have been established to ensure treatment for the injured, as well as care for livestock that has also been badly impacted.

The situation remains serious, as river flows are fluctuating and heavy rains are expected in several districts over the next 24 hours. Officials warn that further flooding may occur if rainfall continues.

Tragically, the disaster has already claimed lives and destroyed large areas of farmland, leaving farmers and local communities in distress. With homes, crops, and livelihoods washed away, thousands of families are now depending on government aid and relief efforts to recover from this crisis.
