2024 Could be World’s Hottest Year as June Breaks Records
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsapp

Last month was the hottest June ever recorded. According to the EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), every month since June 2023 has been the hottest on record for that specific month.

Scientists predict that 2024 could become the hottest year ever, potentially surpassing 2023. This prediction is due to the effects of human-caused climate change and the El Niño phenomenon, which contributes to higher global temperatures.

The extreme heat has had serious consequences around the world. During the haj pilgrimage, over 1,000 people died due to the intense heat. There have also been heat-related deaths in New Delhi, India, and Greece.

The global average temperature over the past year was 1.64°C higher than the temperatures before the industrial era began. This significant increase highlights the impact of climate change and the urgent need to address this issue.
