A powerful earthquake of magnitude 6 shook several parts of Pakistan on Sunday, causing fear and concern among residents.

The tremors were strongly felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Peshawar, and the Northern Areas, shaking buildings and prompting many people to rush outdoors for safety.

The quake did not remain limited to these major cities. People in Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Taxila, Wah Cantonment, and Chakwal also reported strong shocks. In many places, the earthquake lasted long enough for families to evacuate their homes and gather in open spaces, worried about possible aftershocks.

Authorities have confirmed that so far, no major damage or casualties have been officially reported, but assessment teams have been sent to affected regions to monitor the situation closely.

Emergency services and local administrations are on high alert, ready to respond in case of any incidents.

Experts have advised people to remain calm but cautious. Residents are encouraged to avoid standing near damaged structures, keep essential supplies ready, and follow safety instructions shared by disaster management authorities.

The earthquake serves as a reminder of the country’s vulnerability to seismic activity, especially in northern areas that lie close to fault lines.
