The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued the first alert for a possible cyclone after a well-marked low-pressure area formed over the Gulf of Khambhat, India. According to the Cyclone Warning Centre, the system is currently near Gujarat and is likely to move in a northwestern direction.

The low-pressure system may reach the Saurashtra region of India on October 1 before moving into the northeastern Arabian Sea. Once it enters the sea, the system is expected to intensify into a depression, increasing the chances of further cyclonic activity.

The PMD clarified that there is no immediate threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas. However, the Cyclone Warning Centre in Karachi is closely monitoring the situation and keeping strict watch on the system’s movement.

Meanwhile, Karachi experienced hot and humid weather conditions on Monday. With sea breezes cut off, the city remained under intense humidity. The PMD forecast suggests that Karachi’s maximum temperature may rise between 36°C and 38°C. Humidity levels are expected to increase, which will add to the intensity of the heat.

According to the Met Office, hot conditions will continue on Tuesday with chances of light rain in the evening. Officials also warned that the storm developing over the Bay of Bengal is moving toward the Arabian Sea. After passing through Gujarat, India, the system may enter the Arabian Sea and its effects are likely to be felt in southeastern Sindh, lower Sindh, and coastal areas including Karachi.
