PESHAWAR: Owners of CNG filling stations have called for reforms in Gas Infrastructure Development Cess and Gas Tariff Structure.

The demand was made during a meeting of the All Pakistan CNG Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here, under chairmanship of the Association’s President Pervez Khattak.

The meeting focused on in-depth discussions regarding the various challenges currently facing the CNG sector. Detailed discussions were held on the recent Peshawar High Court decision regarding GIDC (Gas Infrastructure Development Cess), examining its potential legal and practical implications.

Participants also deliberated on the current business environment of the CNG industry, the ongoing issue of gas load-shedding, and the campaign against LPG.

Owners voiced concerns that government policies favouring LPG were adversely affecting the CNG sector and emphasised the need for immediate engagement with relevant authorities.

The anticipated increase in gas tariffs was also discussed, and strategies were considered to mitigate its impact on both station owners and consumers.

The meeting concluded with a unified resolve to actively pursue the resolution of sector-wide issues and ensure consistent representation of the CNG sector’s interests at the government level.
