Punjab Police launched a massive operation to strengthen traffic law enforcement across the province, resulting in the issuance of 34,342 driving licenses and 37,789 challans within just 24 hours.

The action generated over Rs. 26 million in fines, reflecting the government’s determination to improve road safety and promote responsible driving habits among citizens.

According to officials, the campaign aims to encourage motorists to follow traffic rules and ensure that unlicensed or reckless drivers are brought under regulation.

The strict measures are part of a broader road safety strategy to reduce accidents and improve traffic discipline in major cities.

The police also took firm action against environmental violations, penalizing 703 vehicles found emitting excessive smoke.

Many of these vehicles were impounded until their owners complied with environmental safety standards. Authorities believe such steps will not only help maintain cleaner air but also raise awareness about vehicle maintenance and emission control.

Inspector General of Punjab Police commended the efforts of traffic officers and directed them to continue implementing strict checks without discrimination.

He further emphasized the importance of driver training and education, noting that 127 driving schools under Punjab Police are playing a key role in preparing responsible drivers.

Officials added that these initiatives are focused on building a safer road culture and reducing avoidable accidents.

Citizens have been urged to cooperate with traffic authorities, renew their licenses on time, and ensure that their vehicles meet all legal and safety requirements. The Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining order and discipline on roads across the province.
