Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf has been suspended for two ODIs after ICC found him guilty of repeated violations of its Code of Conduct during the Asia Cup 2025.
According to the ICC, Rauf received four demerit points within a 24-month period which automatically results in suspension under ICC regulations. The points were linked to multiple incidents during Pakistan’s matches against India in the tournament.
Reports indicate that Rauf was charged for unsportsmanlike behavior that was considered damaging to the spirit of the game.
Match Referee Richie Richardson imposed fines and demerit points for Rauf’s conduct in the September 14 and September 28 games. Each incident resulted in a 30 percent fine on his match fee and two demerit points.
Other players, including India’s Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan’s S. Farhan, were also fined for similar actions but Rauf’s total reached four points, leading to a two-match suspension.
As a result, Haris Rauf will miss Pakistan’s first two ODIs against South Africa, scheduled for November 4 and 6, 2025.
Under ICC rules, Level 1 offences can lead to official warnings, fines of up to 50 percent of a player’s match fee and demerit points. If a player accumulates four or more points within two years, they are converted into suspension points which lead to temporary bans.
The ICC reiterated that discipline and respect on the field are vital for maintaining the spirit and integrity of cricket.
