PTA Issues List of Licensed VPN Providers That Can be Used by Pakistanis

PTA has officially announced a list of licensed VPN providers that can now legally operate in the country. This marks a major change in how VPN services will be regulated and accessed in Pakistan, ensuring greater cybersecurity and compliance with national data protection laws.

Under the revised Class Value Added Services (CVAS-Data) licensing system, several local companies have received permission to provide VPN services. These include Alpha 3 Cubic (Pvt.) Ltd., Zettabyte (Pvt.) Ltd., Nexilium Tech (SMC-Pvt.) Ltd., UKI Conic Solutions (SMC-Pvt.) Ltd., and Vision Tech 360 (Pvt.) Ltd. Each company will operate under its own VPN brand, offering secure and lawful internet connections to both businesses and individuals.

According to PTA, the new licensing policy will make it easier for users to access VPNs without the lengthy approval process that existed before. Users will no longer need to register their IP addresses or mobile numbers with the authority. Instead, they can directly subscribe to services from the newly licensed providers.

Officials say this move will not only make VPN use more convenient but also help combat the misuse of unregistered or illegal VPNs that may pose security risks. The PTA believes this step will encourage responsible digital practices, strengthen online privacy, and support a safer internet environment for all Pakistanis.

With these changes, the PTA continues to push for a balanced approach one that protects data security while supporting innovation and ease of access in the digital space.
