KARACHI: Karachi Development Authority (KDA) is prepared for auction of its land in various localities of the city to make up the financial deficit leading to many financial issues, including difficulty in payment of the employees’ salaries, dues of the retired employees, and due taxes.
Talking to media, KDA Spokesman S M Jameel, quoting KDA DG Asif Jan Siddiqui, said that approval for the planned auction will soon be sought from the Sindh government.
He elaborated that the representatives of the KDA Union will be included in the auction committee to make the auction widely recognised. He said the citizens of Karachi will benefit from the auction. All necessary steps are being taken to ensure the earliest possible transfer of the ownership rights to the citizens emerging successful in the auction process.
He informed that DG KDA, while presiding over a high-level meeting recently, said that all possible steps will be taken to make the institution financially stable that is inevitable for provision of better facilities to the employees.
The meeting was attended by Member Administration Shakeel Siddiqui, Senior Director Land Jamil Ahmed, Director Land Murad Abbasi, and Director Recovery Arif Shah, Director Estate and Enforcement Muhammad Meraj and other executive engineers.
The concerned executive engineers were directed to immediately prepare a complete list of KDA lands for the auction, which will include photographs of plots and other necessary details.
After the approval of the auction from the Sindh government, the auction can be carried out in a transparent manner and strictly in accordance with the rules and regulations.
He referred to the Director General who issued instructions that under second phase an aggressive and coordinated action plan be prepared to reclaim those lands which are encroached upon and even constructions are made there. After vacating, these plots will also be auctioned through same very transparent and credible way.
