New York City’s Newly Elected Mayor Zohran Mamdani Calls for Starbucks Boycott

New York City’s newly elected mayor, Zohran Kwame Mamdani, has publicly called for people across the United States to stop buying from Starbucks for now. His appeal comes as Starbucks workers continue their str!ke, demanding fair treatment, improved working conditions, and a proper labor contract.

Mayor Mamdani said that he fully supports the workers and their right to protest. He shared that he will not purchase anything from Starbucks during the ongoing str!ke and encouraged citizens to show the same solidarity.

According to him, standing with the workers is important because they are simply asking for basic fairness and respect in their workplaces.

He repeated a message that has become popular among the workers: “No contract, no coffee.” This phrase highlights the workers’ belief that Starbucks should not continue business as usual until they negotiate a fair agreement.

The str!ke has been gaining attention nationwide. Many employees have complained about low pay, unpredictable schedules, and a lack of proper benefits. They say they want the company to recognize their union and sign a contract that addresses their concerns.

Labor activists across the country have welcomed the mayor’s stance, saying that political support can help bring positive change. They believe that when influential leaders speak up, companies are more likely to take workers’ demands seriously.

Customers have reacted in different ways. Some have decided to support the boycott, while others are still choosing to visit Starbucks. However, the mayor hopes that more people will join the workers’ movement so the company feels the pressure to act.

For now, Starbucks workers continue their protest, hoping the added public support will help them secure a fair contract soon.
