A Turkish parliamentary delegation visiting Lahore has praised the leadership and speed of work shown by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

During the meeting, Turkish MP Burhan Kaya Turk remarked that her pace of development initiatives is “faster than Türkiye,” a comment that drew warm appreciation from the Pakistani side.

The delegation and the chief minister discussed several areas where Pakistan and Türkiye can work more closely together. The talks focused on strengthening economic cooperation, improving environmental policies, and building better coordination between the parliaments of both countries.

Officials also highlighted the need for joint efforts in flood management, clean and modern transport, forest conservation and climate-resilient infrastructure.

Burhan Kaya Turk expressed admiration for the historic connection between the two nations. He said that the people of Türkiye hold deep respect for Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Nawaz Sharif, acknowledging the long-standing sense of friendship between Pakistan and Türkiye.

Maryam Nawaz thanked Türkiye for its constant support, especially during Pakistan’s devastating floods. She welcomed the interest shown by Turkish investors and companies in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones, saying that these collaborations can open new doors for trade and development.

She also noted that both countries share cultural values, strong brotherhood, and a history of mutual goodwill. The chief minister emphasized that Pakistan and Türkiye must work together to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion, adding that stronger ties will benefit both sides economically and socially.

The meeting ended with a commitment from both delegations to continue dialogue and deepen cooperation in the coming months.
