18 Bus Passengers Kidnapped From Motorway

An attack took place late Monday night on a passenger bus traveling from Sadiqabad to Quetta near the Punjab–Sindh border, according to police sources. A group of armed men stopped the bus, injured the driver, and kidnapped 18 passengers before fleeing the area.

The bus, operated by Sadabahar Company, had departed from Sadiqabad around 8:00 pm and was heading toward Quetta. The incident occurred near the Murid Shakh area on Motorway M-5. Police said the attackers intercepted the coach while it was moving and forced it to stop.

According to initial reports, the attackers opened fire at the bus, shattering several windows and causing panic among the passengers. As a result of the firing, the driver was injured. Other passengers were left shaken but were not reported to have serious injuries at the scene.

After stopping the bus, the attackers reportedly took 18 passengers with them and escaped. The reasons behind the kidnapping are not yet clear. Police and security agencies have launched a search operation in the surrounding areas to locate the attackers and recover the abducted passengers.

Law enforcement officials said checkpoints have been set up, and investigations are ongoing to determine how the attackers managed to stop the bus on a major route. Authorities are also collecting statements from passengers who were left behind to gather more details.

This incident has raised serious concerns about passenger safety on long-distance routes, especially during night travel. Officials have assured the public that all possible steps are being taken to improve security and bring those responsible to justice.
