IT stocks drag Sri Lanka shares lower

Sri Lankan shares closed a tad lower on Thursday, weighed by losses in information technology stocks.

The CSE All Share index inched down 0.17% to 22,292.57.

Office Equipment and Colombo Dockyard were the top two percentage losers on the CSE All Share, falling 10.35% and 6.82%, respectively.

Trading volume on the CSE All Share index fell to 57.1 million shares from 157.3 million in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover declined to 2.34 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($7.6 million) from 3.33 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 126.9 million rupees, while domestic investors were net sellers, offloading shares worth 2.28 billion rupees, the data showed.
