ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review and accelerate Pakistan’s exports of information technology (IT) services, with a focus on expanding global outreach and strengthening foreign exchange earnings.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) presented a detailed briefing on strategies to enhance IT exports, highlighting the sector’s potential to generate substantial revenue and bolster Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves.

The presentation outlined measures to position Pakistan as a competitive player in the global digital economy.

Senator Ishaq Dar underscored the strategic importance of IT and related fields as industries of the future, emphasizing their critical role in economic diversification, job creation, and sustainable growth. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts across government institutions to fully harness the sector’s potential.

The Foreign Minister reaffirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would continue to support the promotion and growth of Pakistan’s IT industry, including through diplomatic channels and international engagement.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for IT and Telecommunications, Secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and MoITT, senior officials from MOFA, and experts from the IT industry.
