SIMs Must Be Registered in User’s Own Name, PTA Cautions

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has once again reminded mobile users that all SIM cards must be registered in the name of the person who is actually using them. The authority warned that using a SIM registered to someone else is against the rules and can lead to legal or administrative action.

PTA clearly stated that the person whose name is on the SIM record is fully responsible for how that SIM is used. This includes phone calls, text messages, internet usage, and any illegal or suspicious activity carried out through that number. If a SIM is misused, the registered owner may face consequences, even if they are not the one using it.

The regulator advised all mobile users to check their SIM registration details and make sure their numbers are correctly registered in their own names. PTA also urged people to use their mobile connections responsibly and follow all telecom rules and regulations, as compliance is mandatory for everyone.

This reminder is part of PTA’s ongoing efforts to reduce illegal activities that are often carried out using unregistered or wrongly registered mobile connections. Authorities believe that proper SIM registration helps improve public safety, digital security, and law enforcement efforts.
