Saudi Arabia Bans Outdoor Loudspeakers for Prayers During Ramadan
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsapp

Saudi Arabia has announced a ban on the use of outdoor loudspeakers in mosques during Ramadan, except for specific purposes. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs confirmed that external speakers may only be used for the call to prayer (adhan) and the iqama. All other prayers and recitations must be conducted using indoor sound systems.

The ministry also reminded mosques to strictly follow official prayer timings as set by the Umm Al-Qura calendar to maintain consistency across the country. In addition, guidelines have been issued for organizing iftar meals, stating that food should only be served in designated areas to ensure cleanliness and proper crowd management.

Mosque administrations have also been instructed to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety within their facilities. Special attention has been given to women’s prayer areas, which must be clean, well-organized, and safe for worshippers.

These measures are intended to create a peaceful and spiritually focused atmosphere during the holy month of Ramadan, while also being considerate of nearby residents and the wider community.
