Pakistan-Born VER Player Removed From UAE Squad During T20 World Cup in India

UAE opening batter Mohammad Zuhaib has been sent back from India to Dubai during the ICC T20 World Cup amid a controversy over his departure.

The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) said the decision was due to disciplinary violations, but Zuhaib strongly denied any wrongdoing. He claimed he was being treated unfairly because of his Pakistani background.

Zuhaib said that team management pressured him to declare himself unfit to play, even though he was ready and willing to participate.

He argued that this action was unjust and could damage his career and reputation. The batter has now appealed to both the Emirates Cricket Board and the ICC, asking them to review the situation and ensure that decisions are made fairly.

He emphasized that the UAE cricket team represents a multicultural nation, with players from different backgrounds working together.

According to Zuhaib, cricket should unite the team, not create divisions based on ethnicity or nationality. He called for respect, fairness, and transparency in how players are treated, saying that everyone deserves equal opportunity regardless of their origin.

The incident has sparked debate among fans and cricket experts, with many expressing concern about how off-field issues can affect team performance during a major tournament.

Some supporters have called for clear rules and stronger protections to prevent discrimination in international cricket teams.

Zuhaib’s case highlights the challenges faced by multicultural teams in balancing discipline, fairness, and team harmony.

Officials from the ECB and ICC are now expected to investigate the matter further, while fans await a resolution that ensures justice for the player and the integrity of the UAE team during the T20 World Cup.
