The Islamabad Traffic Police has launched the “Uraan” Scooty and Motor Riding School for Women, a dedicated initiative designed to promote safe riding practices and improve mobility for female commuters in the twin cities.

The program was formally inaugurated by Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi at the ITPL Headquarters. Speaking at the ceremony, he highlighted the importance of empowering women through practical skills that enhance independence and ensure safer participation in traffic. He noted that increased female mobility contributes directly to social inclusion and economic participation.

Under the “Uraan” initiative, women will receive structured and professional training in scooty riding, motorcycle handling, and car driving. The curriculum combines theoretical instruction with hands-on practice to build confidence and competence on the road. Participants will train on a modern driving track under the supervision of qualified female instructors, ensuring a supportive and comfortable learning environment.

Special emphasis will be placed on road safety awareness, traffic rules, defensive driving techniques, and emergency handling skills. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded formal certificates, recognizing their training and readiness to navigate roads responsibly.

The initiative reflects Islamabad Traffic Police’s broader commitment to community engagement and gender-inclusive reforms. By equipping women in Islamabad and Rawalpindi with essential driving skills, the program aims to foster independence, enhance daily commuting options, and contribute to safer roads for everyone.
