Reports indicate that the Indian Air Force (IAF) has experienced another incident involving a HAL Tejas fighter jet after the aircraft reportedly overshot the runway at a frontline airbase, resulting in significant damage to the airframe. According to Indian media outlets such as The Hindu and The Times of India, the incident occurred on February 7 and was likely caused by a brake system failure during landing. The pilot successfully ejected and is reported to be safe.

In response to the accident, approximately 30 single-seat Tejas aircraft were reportedly grounded as a precautionary measure to allow for comprehensive technical inspections and safety checks. Authorities are said to be conducting detailed assessments to determine the exact cause of the runway overshoot and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The development comes at a time when the Tejas Mk-1A program is already facing delays. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the manufacturer of the aircraft, has previously cited engine supply challenges linked to GE Aerospace as one of the key reasons affecting production timelines. These delays have raised concerns regarding delivery schedules and operational readiness.

This latest incident marks the third reported loss involving the Tejas platform since its induction into service, drawing renewed attention to maintenance protocols, technical reliability, and program execution. However, official investigations are ongoing, and further details are expected following a formal review by the concerned authorities.
