Quetta Set to Become Next Modern ‘ Safe City’ of Pakistan

The Balochistan government has given the green light to establish a state-of-the-art Safe City Authority in Quetta, marking a significant step toward enhancing urban security and improving city management. The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, reflecting the provincial administration’s commitment to modernizing public safety measures and strengthening law enforcement capabilities.

The upcoming Safe City project will feature an extensive network of advanced surveillance cameras, AI-powered monitoring systems, intelligent traffic management solutions, and integrated emergency response tools. These technologies are expected to enable real-time tracking of criminal activity, streamline traffic flow, and ensure rapid intervention during emergencies, ultimately contributing to a safer and more efficient urban environment.

Officials have highlighted that the initiative is designed not only to curb crime and protect citizens but also to modernize Quetta’s infrastructure and bring it in line with contemporary urban governance standards. With the implementation of this project, Balochistan joins Punjab as the second province in Pakistan to adopt a comprehensive Safe City model. Authorities have indicated that further details regarding the rollout timeline and operational framework will be announced in the coming weeks, signaling a new era in the province’s approach to urban security and smart city development.
