Govt Imposes Ban on Use of All Commercial and Entertainment Purpose Drone

The Ministry of Interior has issued a nationwide ban on drones, quadcopters, and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across Pakistan, effective immediately and until further notice, citing rising security concerns due to escalating tensions with Afghanistan. Authorities have stressed that the ban is comprehensive, covering all civilian and commercial drones, and have directed police and district administrations to ensure strict enforcement. Legal action will be taken against anyone found violating these restrictions.

Provincial governments have also moved swiftly to implement localized measures. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Balochistan, immediate restrictions have been imposed, with Sindh specifically announcing a two-month ban. Citizens are being advised to exercise caution, avoid gatherings near sensitive installations, and report any suspicious drone activity or debris to the relevant authorities.

The ban comes in the wake of recent Taliban drone attacks, which were successfully foiled by Pakistani security forces during ‘Operation Ghazab Lil Haq’. The Pakistan Air Force reportedly targeted key insurgent positions to prevent further threats, highlighting the seriousness of the security situation along the western border. Officials have emphasized that this measure is preventive in nature, aimed at safeguarding public safety and national security amid the current geopolitical tensions.
