Sindh’s Free IT Courses Program For 50,000Students Shut Down After Tessori’s Exit

The IT training program that was started at the Governor House during the tenure of former Governor Kamran Tessori has now been stopped after his removal from office.

The program had been running for around three years and had attracted a large number of students, with reports suggesting that nearly 50,000 people were enrolled.

The initiative was designed to provide IT skills and training opportunities to young individuals, helping them improve their chances of employment in the growing digital sector. It became popular due to its accessibility and practical learning approach.

However, after the change in leadership, the new Governor, Nihal Hashmi, confirmed that all projects and activities linked to the Governor House, including the IT training program, have been discontinued. This decision has affected thousands of students who were either enrolled or planning to join the program.

Following the shutdown, the equipment that was previously set up at the Education Tent City has been removed. The area, which was once active with students and training sessions, is now largely empty and inactive.

Despite this development, authorities have shared plans to continue supporting IT education through other platforms. It has been announced that similar training opportunities will be expanded under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme. The aim is to provide wider access to students across the country and ensure that digital skill development continues.
