LAHORE: A Karachi-bound train derailed near Punjab’s Bahawalpur on Tuesday night, following which a probe was ordered into the incident, official sources media.
Further details about the incident involving Tezgam Express are not yet clear, and several casualties are feared.
According official sources, the Federal Government Inspector of Railways (FGIR) has been appointed as the inquiry officer to investigate the matter.
“The FGIR will conduct an inquiry and report to the [railways] ministry within three days,” an official told media.
There are reports that a relief train has reached the site of the incident and rescue and relief operations are being carried out by Rescue 1122 and other departments.
