Pakistan’s premier fast bowler, Naseem Shah, is having a difficult PSL 11 campaign. First came a major controversy, and now a serious injury has put his entire tournament participation in doubt.
RawalPindiz confirmed that fast bowler Naseem Shah has been ruled out for the immediate future after suffering a side injury during the team’s PSL 11 match against Karachi Kings.
The franchise said its medical staff is continuing to monitor Naseem Shah’s recovery closely, with hopes that he could return later in the tournament if his rehabilitation goes according to plan and he receives the required fitness clearance.
Naseem felt sharp pain in his side after his very first delivery against Karachi Kings and immediately signaled to the dugout and left the field in visible distress. The franchise confirmed he experienced significant discomfort under his left ribcage, and their medical staff decided against his continuing
The injury news came just days after Naseem found himself at the center of a major controversy. The PCB issued him a show-cause notice after a social media post in which he expressed a critical opinion about Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who was the chief guest during the PSL opening match at Gaddafi Stadium.
The PCB fined Naseem Shah 20 million Pakistani rupees, reported by local media as the largest financial penalty in Pakistan cricket history, roughly equivalent to eight months of his central contract salary.
Naseem later admitted on X that his management team made the post and did not reflect his views, offering a sincere apology to everyone affected. His social media adviser was also terminated and blacklisted by the PCB.
RawalPindiz expressed full support for the fast bowler, saying the franchise stands firmly behind him during this difficult phase and remains committed to helping him through rehabilitation.
For Pakistan cricket, losing Naseem for any extended period is a significant blow, as he remains one of the country’s most dangerous pace weapons.
