India celebrated a remarkable victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup by defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final. This win marks India’s second T20 World Cup title.

Virat Kohli reached an incredible milestone by being the only player to have been part of the winning Playing XI in all four major ICC Men’s events: the U19 World Cup in 2008, the Cricket World Cup in 2011, the Champions Trophy in 2013, and now the T20 World Cup in 2024.

Kohli played a crucial role in this final, scoring a pivotal 76 runs off 59 balls. His performance helped India reach a total of 176/7.

This victory is especially significant as it ends India’s long wait for an ICC trophy, the last one being the Champions Trophy in 2013. Kohli’s contribution to the win is even more noteworthy as he announced his retirement from T20 internationals after this match, concluding a stellar career spanning 125 matches.

The final match was filled with excitement and tension. India, having set a challenging target of 177 runs, managed to hold South Africa back, ultimately winning by just seven runs. Hardik Pandya’s impressive bowling in the final overs was key to India’s defense of their total.

Fans and players alike celebrated this long-awaited victory. The win is a testament to the team’s resilience and skill, and it provides a fitting end to Virat Kohli’s remarkable T20 international career. This triumph has brought joy to millions of Indian cricket fans, who had been waiting for an ICC victory for over a decade.
