Pakistan’s swimmers Ahmed Durrani and Jehanara Nabi faced tough competition at the Paris Olympics 2024 and couldn’t advance to the next round in their respective events.

Ahmed Durrani competed in the men’s 200-meter freestyle but finished last in his heat with a time of 1 minute and 58.67 seconds, which was slower than his personal best of 1 minute and 55 seconds. He placed 25th overall, missing the semifinals by 11 seconds.

Jehanara Nabi, competing in the women’s 200-meter freestyle, finished 26th out of 30 swimmers and third in her heat, also failing to qualify for the top 16. Both swimmers were unable to move forward in their events.

In shooting, Gulfam Joseph and Kishmala Talat had a challenging start. Joseph, in the 10-meter air pistol event, scored 571 points out of 600, placing 22nd out of 33 shooters, while Kishmala scored 567 points and did not make it to the finals.

Both athletes are set to compete again in the mixed team event on July 29, with Kishmala particularly looking forward to the women’s 25m pistol events.

Pakistan’s contingent at the Olympics includes seven athletes, supported by 11 officials. Despite the early challenges, the team remains hopeful for better performances in the upcoming events.
