Two Japanese climbers, Hiraide Kazuya and Nakajima Kenro, recently fell from K2, the world’s second-highest mountain, located in northern Pakistan.

Both climbers, aged in their 30s and 40s, are associated with Tokyo-based Ishii Sports. The accident occurred as they were ascending at around 7,000 meters.

A search and rescue mission was quickly launched, and an aerial search team has located the climbers. However, their condition remains uncertain due to the challenging circumstances.

Rescue operations have been complicated by the difficulty in landing a helicopter at such high altitudes.

This incident adds to the history of tragic events involving Japanese climbers on Pakistan’s high-altitude peaks, highlighting the extreme risks and dangers associated with such expeditions.

The climbing community is anxiously awaiting more news as rescue teams continue their efforts to reach and assist the stranded climbers.
