Arshad Nadeem, the 27-year-old javelin thrower who made history by winning Pakistan’s first Olympic gold medal in 40 years, was honored with a total cash prize of Rs153 million from the Punjab and Sindh governments.

His incredible achievement took place at the Paris Olympics, where he secured the gold medal with an impressive throw of 92.97 meters.

This throw not only won him the top spot but also broke the previous Olympic record of 90.57 meters, set by Andreas Thorkildsen during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Arshad’s victory has been celebrated across the nation, and he is being hailed as a national hero. In recognition of his extraordinary accomplishment, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz awarded him Rs100 million.

She also announced that a new sports city would be built in his hometown of Mian Channu, which will be named after him in his honor. This gesture symbolizes the immense pride and admiration the nation feels for Arshad’s dedication and success, and it reflects the government’s commitment to supporting and nurturing athletic talent in Pakistan.

Arshad’s journey to Olympic gold is an inspiration to countless young athletes in Pakistan, showing that with hard work and determination, it’s possible to achieve greatness on the world stage.

His legacy will not only live on through the sports city named after him but also in the hearts of all those who aspire to follow in his footsteps.
