Senior Journalist Hamid Mir Files Petition at Islamabad High Court Against Installation Of Internet Firewall
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsapp

Senior journalist Hamid Mir has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court against the recent internet slowdown and the planned installation of a new firewall.

Represented by his lawyer, Imaan Mazari, Mir has named the PTA and the Ministry for Human Rights as the parties being challenged in the case.

The petition calls for the court to stop the firewall installation unless there is proper consultation with stakeholders and measures to protect fundamental rights.

Mir’s petition argues that access to the internet is crucial for earning a living and should be considered a fundamental human right. It also requests that the authorities provide a detailed report on how the new firewall will impact internet access and users.
