Abu Dhabi: There are 3 cases to benefit from the urgent service of issuing and delivering the Emirates ID card within a maximum of 24 hours, according to the Digital Government of the UAE (DG), with the collection of the regular service fee in addition to the immediate service fee.
The DG clarified that Emirati nationals and Gulf residents of all age categories can obtain the ID card within 24 hours when registering for the first time, when renewing expired cards, and when applying for a lost or damaged replacement. Non-Gulf expats residing in the UAE can only obtain the urgent service when applying for a lost or damaged ID card replacement, provided they submit their original, valid passport and valid residence visa.
The procedures include re-scanning fingerprints and taking a personal photo, according to the DG. Emirati citizens can avail of this service by presenting their original birth certificate, original, valid passport, and old ID card in case of renewal, the government added.
Gulf citizens must submit their original, valid passport, the original, valid Gulf ID card issued by their country of origin (for those 19 years of age and above), or the valid ID of one of the parents for those under 18 years of age, and a recent personal photo measuring (4.5 x 3.5 cm) with a white background for those under 15 years of age.
The DG added that children of Emirati citizens are required to provide proof of residence in the country (original family record extract for the head of the family – all pages) and original supporting documents such as proof of first-degree kinship with a citizen, like a birth certificate, marriage contract, or family record extract, in addition to providing the original supporting documents for the citizen such as a passport, family record extract, or ID card, a valid commercial licence, an original certificate of continued study from one of the schools, colleges, or universities in the UAE, and an original Labour-certified employment contract issued by the Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation (MOHRE) for those working for the private sector.
Proof of residence also includes an original work certificate issued by one of the government institutions in the UAE for those working for the government sector, and proof of residence for individuals 18 years of age or younger or proof of residence of one of the parents in the UAE, based on one of the documents mentioned above, DG indicated.
Applicants can obtain the immediate service by visiting one of the Customer Happiness Centres of the ICP and submitting the required documents, or through the Fawri service. These centres are: Al Jazeera Centre, Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi, Al Barsha, Al Rashidiya, and Al Karama in Dubai, Zayed City in the Western Region, Al Ain Centre , Sharjah Centre, Ajman Centre, Fujairah Centre, Ras Al Khaimah Centre, and Umm Al Quwain Centre, the government said.
