The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has indicted that the tropical cyclone Asna, which originated in the Arabian Sea, is expected to persist for the next 24 hours before gradually weakening from Sunday afternoon, ultimately transitioning into a tropical depression. The NCM additionally noted that the cyclone is currently moving at a speed of 15 km/h and that winds have been monitored at 80 to 60 km/h.
The NCM explained that the UAE is subject to an indirect impact as a consequence of the movement of clouds from the Arabian Sea towards the eastern and southern regions. This phenomenon may be accompanied by precipitation and wave turbulence in the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Gulf. Additionally, there is a possibility of a limited extension of sea water onto some beaches on the east coast during the high tide period on Sunday and Monday.
The NCM has confirmed that it is monitoring the situation continuously and is providing regular updates. It has urged the public to adhere to official bulletins and reports issued by it and to refrain from disseminating rumours.
In a related context, the NCM has predicted that the weather on Sunday will be partially cloudy, with the potential for light to moderate precipitation in some eastern and southern areas. Furthermore, these conditions are expected to persist into the night and into Monday morning in the west. Winds are expected to be light to moderate in speed, with occasional gusts, which could result in dust and sand, particularly in the north and east. Additionally, sea conditions are expected to be light to moderate, and it may become disturbed at night in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
The Monday’s weather will be dusty and partially cloudy, with the potential for precipitation in some eastern and southern areas during the day. Additionally, temperatures are expected to decline, and winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly, with speeds ranging from light to moderate. These winds may occasionally be active, stirring dust and sand, with speeds reaching 15 to 40 km/h.
In the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, sea conditions will be turbulent to medium to light waves.
The Tuesday’s weather is likely to be clear to partly cloudy, with the potential for low clouds to form along the eastern coast in the morning. In the afternoon, there is a possibility of the formation of cumulus clouds in the east and south, which may be accompanied by precipitation. Additionally, temperatures are expected to rise, and winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly, with speeds ranging from light to moderate. These winds may occasionally be active and dusty, with speeds reaching 10 to 25 up to 40 km/h. The sea is expected to be light to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.
The weather on Wednesday is expected to be clear to partly cloudy, with the exception of the eastern and southern regions, where low clouds are expected to prevail during the morning hours. Winds are expected to be southeasterly to northeasterly, with speeds ranging from light to moderate, and may occasionally be active and dusty, reaching speeds of 10 to 25 km/h. Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are expected to be relatively mild.
