Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced a major development plan for Karachi, allocating over Rs200 billion to improve the city’s infrastructure. This plan includes several important projects that aim to address key challenges faced by the city and boost overall development.

One of the main projects is the Malir Expressway, which will link Karachi’s port to Jinnah International Airport. This expressway will help reduce traffic congestion in the city and make the movement of goods much easier. The chief minister emphasized that the Malir Expressway will greatly enhance Karachi’s logistics network, helping businesses and everyday commuters alike.

To tackle Karachi’s ongoing water shortage, CM Murad Ali Shah mentioned plans to provide an additional 200 million gallons of water from Hub Dam. This additional water supply is expected to be available by June 2025, which will provide some relief to the residents who have faced water scarcity for years. Addressing the city’s water crisis has been a long-standing issue, and the provincial government is focused on finding solutions to improve the availability of water for all citizens.

While speaking at the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) dinner, CM Shah also expressed concerns about the federal government’s lack of support for Sindh. He highlighted that despite the challenges, the Sindh government is determined to continue its efforts to improve the infrastructure and overall living conditions in Karachi. He assured the audience that the provincial government is actively working on numerous projects that aim to enhance various aspects of life in Karachi, from roads to utilities.

Moreover, CM Shah also shared that former President Asif Ali Zardari is planning to visit China next month. The visit aims to secure further investments that could help fund more developmental projects in Karachi and other parts of Sindh. The Sindh government hopes to attract more international support to continue the transformation of Karachi, making it a better place for residents and a more attractive city for businesses.
