Nearly 200 alumni, staff, and students from Oxford University have signed a petition supporting Imran Khan’s candidacy for the position of Chancellor. This petition, organized by his adviser Zulfi Bukhari, praises Imran Khan’s leadership and his notable achievements throughout his career.

Supporters of Khan emphasize his accomplishments, such as winning the 1992 Cricket World Cup, founding the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, establishing Namal University, and leading significant environmental initiatives like the Billion Tree Tsunami. They argue that these achievements reflect qualities of leadership, compassion, and innovation, which are values that align closely with Oxford University’s commitment to diversity, social impact, and global leadership.

Although there is some opposition to Khan’s candidacy, his supporters believe that his leadership record makes him an excellent choice for Chancellor. They also stress the importance of ensuring that the election process is fair and transparent, allowing for a genuine competition of ideas and candidates.

The petition reflects the belief that Khan’s global impact and contributions to society, particularly in health, education, and climate change, make him a strong candidate for the prestigious position at Oxford. His backers hope that the university will consider his candidacy seriously and give him the opportunity to represent Oxford’s values on the global stage.
