The new Gwadar International Airport is set to open its doors by the end of this month, according to an announcement from the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA). Preparations for the airport’s operations are now in their final stages, as confirmed by the PAA spokesperson.
Recently, Acting Director General Zeeshan Saeed, along with Deputy DG Sadiq Rehman, visited the site to assess the progress. During their visit, Project Director Faizullah Khattak provided a detailed update on the airport’s readiness, highlighting the advancements made in completing this important infrastructure project.
Built at a cost of $246 million, with significant financial support from China, the new Gwadar International Airport is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. It boasts a modern terminal and a large runway capable of accommodating all types of large aircraft, making it a key addition to Pakistan’s aviation network.
The airport is expected to significantly enhance connectivity for Gwadar, a city that is central to Pakistan’s economic ambitions, particularly under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework. The airport’s strategic location and advanced facilities are set to make it a hub for international travel and trade.
