Good News! PIA Tickets Likely to Get Cheaper after Duty Tax Removal

PIA is set to lower its ticket prices following the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) decision to waive the Federal Excise Duty (FED) on international flights. This change is expected to make traveling abroad much more affordable for passengers.

Ticket prices for flights to the USA could drop by as much as Rs. 350,000. Similarly, travelers to Europe and Australia might save up to Rs. 210,000, while those flying to the Middle East and Africa could see reductions of up to Rs. 105,000. However, domestic flights are not included in this waiver and will continue to carry the FED.

In addition to the ticket price reduction, the IMF has also removed an 18% sales tax on the purchase or lease of aircraft. This will help PIA lower its operational costs. Furthermore, Rs. 46 billion of PIA’s negative equity will be transferred to a holding company. This step is aimed at improving the airline’s financial position and making it more appealing to potential investors as part of ongoing privatization plans.

These reforms are a significant step in PIA’s efforts to recover financially and offer better services to its passengers.

By making international travel more affordable and improving its business model, PIA aims to regain its competitive edge in the aviation industry. Travelers can now look forward to significant savings while the airline works towards a brighter future.
