The federal government has officially announced the schedule of public holidays for the year 2025, outlining a total of 16 holidays to be observed nationwide, ARY News reported. The Cabinet Division issued a notification detailing the significant days designated as public holidays.

The year will begin with Kashmir Day on February 5, commemorating the solidarity with the people of Kashmir. Another prominent national holiday, Pakistan Day, is scheduled for March 23, a day of historical importance marking the Lahore Resolution of 1940.

Religious holidays, including Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha, will feature three consecutive holidays each, ensuring extended celebrations for the Muslim community. The exact dates for these holidays will be determined based on the sighting of the moon.

Other notable public holidays include Labour Day on May 1, celebrating workers’ rights, and Yom-e-Takbeer on May 28, commemorating Pakistan’s successful nuclear tests conducted in 1998. Independence Day, a cornerstone of the country’s identity, will be observed on August 14.

The Cabinet Division also announced holidays for Ashura, Eid Milad-un-Nabi, and Iqbal Day on November 9, honoring the poet-philosopher and national thinker, Allama Muhammad Iqbal. The year will conclude with Quaid-e-Azam Day on December 25, paying tribute to the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

In addition to these public holidays, December 26 has been designated as a holiday for the Christian community to celebrate Christmas.

Bank Holidays in 2025

The notification also outlined specific holidays for banks, which include January 1, July 1, and the first day of Ramadan, during which banks will remain closed to the public for official transactions.

The announcement provides a clear roadmap for public observances in 2025, allowing citizens to plan their celebrations and activities around these important dates.
