The Punjab government has started a large tree-planting project to help reduce Lahore’s air pollution and smog. The plan includes creating a 978-acre natural forest across the city to improve air quality and provide fresh oxygen for residents.

A key part of this project is a green belt along the River Ravi, where 634,000 trees will be planted. So far, 144 acres have been planted, with 105,000 trees already in place.

Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb highlighted that improving air quality and fighting pollution are major priorities for the government. She called the project an important step toward reducing smog and creating a healthier environment for Lahore’s people.

The initiative, led by the Punjab Department of Forests and the Lahore Development Authority (RODA), also encourages public participation. Citizens are invited to take part in planting trees and supporting efforts to make Lahore cleaner and greener.
