Here’s How to Register for Punjab’s Free Solar Panel Scheme

Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has introduced a new initiative to help electricity consumers in the province. The Chief Minister Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme aims to provide solar energy solutions to eligible households, reducing their dependence on traditional electricity and lowering monthly bills. This scheme is designed to benefit those consuming up to 200 units of electricity per month by offering them free solar panel installations.

If you qualify for this program, here’s a step-by-step guide to registering for the free solar panel scheme through the online portal or SMS.

How to Apply for the Free Solar Panel Scheme

Method 1: Online Registration

Consumers can apply for the scheme online by visiting the official portal and following these steps:

  1. Access the Registration Portal
  2. Complete the Registration Form
    • Enter details such as full name, email, mobile number, CNIC, and password.
    • Solve the captcha and submit the form.
  3. Verify Your Email
    • Check your inbox for a verification email and click the link inside to confirm your account.
  4. Log in and Apply
    • Use your registered email and password to sign in.
    • Enter your electricity bill reference number and verify the details.
  5. Submit Your Application
    • Once the system confirms your information, accept the terms and submit your application.
    • You can track your application status through the portal.

Method 2: SMS Registration

For those without internet access, registration is also available via SMS.

  1. Send an SMS to 8800 in the following format: Reference No. [SPACE] CNIC Example: 1234567890 1234567890123
  2. Receive Confirmation
    • You will get a confirmation message once your application is received.

Who Can Apply?

The scheme is open to households using up to 200 electricity units per month. Applicants must provide their CNIC and electricity bill reference number for verification.

Additional Information

  • The first phase will install over 94,000 solar panels, beginning in March and ending in July.
  • Before installation, authorities will conduct a physical verification to confirm eligibility.
  • The government is also transitioning Punjab’s 43 jails to solar energy to cut electricity costs.
