Pakistani Scientists Develop Chicken Breed That Lays Over 200 Eggs Annually

Scientists at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad have developed a new chicken breed named Uni-Gold. This breed is special because it can lay over 200 eggs each year. It is also strong enough to survive in hot weather, needs less food, and is easy to care for. These features make Uni-Gold a great choice for small farmers, especially those living in villages.

One of the best things about Uni-Gold is how well it fits into rural life. In many areas of Pakistan, farming is tough due to heat and high costs. Uni-Gold helps solve both problems. Since it eats less and still lays many eggs, farmers can earn more while spending less on food and care.

This new breed is also a big step forward for women in rural communities. Many women are involved in backyard poultry farming, and Uni-Gold makes their work easier. With its low-maintenance needs, even those with little farming experience can manage these birds. This means more income opportunities for women and a better standard of living for their families.

Uni-Gold has the potential to improve food supply by increasing egg production across the country. It supports food security, boosts local farming, and helps people build small businesses from their homes.

This achievement by Pakistani scientists is not just a scientific success, but a social one too. Uni-Gold shows how research and innovation can bring real change to people’s lives, especially in underdeveloped areas.

By introducing a chicken breed that is easy to raise and highly productive, the University of Agriculture Faisalabad has taken an important step in supporting rural farming and empowering communities across Pakistan.
