State Bank of Pakistan Bans All Currency Notes with Writing or Pen Marks

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has made an important announcement regarding currency notes. Starting from July 1, 2025, which marks the beginning of the new fiscal year, any paper money with pen marks, writing, or scribbles will no longer be accepted or considered valid. This means people will not be able to use such damaged notes in shops, banks, or for any other transactions.

This new rule has been introduced to keep Pakistani currency clean and in good condition. Over time, many banknotes become dirty or damaged because people often write on them. This not only shortens the life of the notes but also makes them look untidy and difficult to use.

By banning currency with pen marks, the State Bank hopes to stop this habit and encourage people to treat money more carefully. Clean and well-kept currency also helps maintain trust in the country’s financial system and reflects a better image of the national currency both locally and internationally.

The State Bank is urging everyone to be more responsible and avoid writing or marking anything on banknotes. Businesses and the public are being informed in advance so they can prepare for the new rule before it officially takes effect.
