PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court on Thursday extended protective bails to leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Omer Ayub Khan and two other leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and directed the law enforcement agencies not to arrest them.

A bench consisting of Chief Justice Syed Mohammad Attique Shah and Justice Mohammad Ijaz Khan took up for hearing the plea of adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, and extended protective bail to him till June 3.

Similarly, a bench consisting of Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Fazal Subhan ordered extension of protective bail to Umer Ayub Khan till June 25 and to former senator Faisal Javed Khan till May 29.

Advocate Alam Khan Adenzai appeared for Mr Omer Ayub and requested to exempt him from personal appearance on Thursday as he was ill.

He stated that his client had been charged in multiple cases by the federal and Punjab governments and the law enforcement agencies and he had not been provided details about those cases.

He contended that under Article 19-A of the Constitution it was his constitutional right to get information about the cases registered against him.

The bench directed the law enforcement agencies to provide details about the cases wherein the petitioner had been charged.

Similarly, in the case of Faisal Javed Khan, an assistant attorney general stated that he had submitted a report on behalf of the federal government wherein it was mentioned that the petitioner had been charged in a total of 22 cases.

An additional advocate general Inam Yousafzai stated that he would submit report for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government after getting information from the anti-corruption establishment whether there was any case registered against the petitioner.

The bench directed him to submit the report before next date so that the petition could be disposed of.

Moreover, Advocate Alam Khan Adenzai appeared along with Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif and stated that they had information that the petitioner had been booked in multiple cases after the Nov 26 protests in Islamabad’s D-Chowk and other areas.

He stated that the petitioners wanted to get details about the cases so that he could appear before the relevant courts.

A representative of federal government stated that he had been charged in four of the FIRs registered in Islamabad.

The bench granted him protective bail till Jun 3 with the direction to appear before the court concerned by that date.
