Saudi Arabia has taken a big step in healthcare by launching its first mobile stroke unit at the Grand Mosque in Makkah during Hajj 2025. This special ambulance is designed to give fast, on-the-spot treatment to people who suffer a stroke during the pilgrimage.

The mobile unit is fully equipped with advanced medical tools, including a CT scan machine, clot-breaking medicines, and a system that allows doctors to communicate with specialists remotely.

A team of trained medical staff can diagnose and start treating a patient within just 15 minutes. This quick response helps save lives and prevent serious brain damage.

The project is a joint effort by the Makkah Health Cluster and King Faisal Specialist Hospital, with strong support from the Saudi Ministry of Health. The goal is to make sure pilgrims get immediate and high-quality medical care during one of the world’s biggest gatherings.

One example of the unit’s success is the case of a 60-year-old pilgrim from Uganda. He suffered a stroke but was treated quickly by the mobile team and recovered well. His story shows how this service can truly make a difference.

With millions of pilgrims gathered in Makkah, this mobile stroke unit is a timely and life-saving addition to Hajj health services. It reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to using modern medical technology to care for guests during Hajj, keeping both their health and safety a top priority.
