Islamabad Set to Become Pakistan’s First Fully Cashless City

Islamabad is on its way to becoming Pakistan’s first completely cashless city. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced that it will soon launch a digital payment system for many of its services.

This means people living in Islamabad will be able to pay their taxes, utility bills, parking fees, and even complete land transfers without using cash.

Instead of waiting in long lines and paying by hand, citizens will be able to use QR codes or mobile apps to make payments quickly and easily. The CDA believes this step will make things more transparent and save people time. It will also help reduce corruption, since digital payments leave a clear record of every transaction.

CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa shared that the goal is to turn Islamabad into a smart city that puts citizens first. To make this happen, the CDA is partnering with leading banks in Pakistan. The new system will first be launched in busy areas where lots of people need to pay for services. After that, it will be expanded to the whole city.

This move is also part of Pakistan’s wider plan to increase digital financial services and help more people use online payment methods. Experts say going cashless can make life more convenient and safe for citizens by cutting down on the need to carry cash.

People in Islamabad are hopeful that this change will make daily tasks like paying bills and fees easier and faster than ever before.
