The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather warning, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across different parts of Pakistan in the next 24 hours.
According to the advisory, the current monsoon system may cause flash floods, urban flooding, and landslides in vulnerable areas. Major cities such as Islamabad and Rawalpindi, along with northeastern Punjab districts including Lahore, Sialkot, and Attock, are at high risk of urban flooding due to continuous downpours.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts like Swat, Buner, and Mansehra have been placed on alert for possible flash floods and landslides. Similarly, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, areas such as Muzaffarabad and Mirpur may also face dangerous weather conditions in the coming hours.
Sindh’s coastal belt, including Karachi, Thatta, and Badin, is expected to receive intermittent showers. Meanwhile, central and upper Sindh could see scattered heavy rainfall. Eastern parts of Balochistan, especially Lasbela, Gwadar, and Khuzdar, are also likely to be affected by strong monsoon activity.
Authorities have advised citizens to stay alert and take necessary safety steps to protect lives and property. Local administrations have been directed to remain prepared for rescue and relief operations in case of emergencies.
NDMA has assured that relief and rehabilitation efforts are being closely supervised and coordinated. The authority has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel to flood-prone areas, keep emergency supplies ready, and follow official updates for their safety.
With heavy rains expected across several regions, the NDMA stressed that precautionary measures can help reduce risks and save lives.
