Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar recently completed an important visit to Dhaka, where he met with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, along with other senior leaders.
The main focus of the trip was on reviving the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), improving bilateral relations, and promoting people-to-people and youth linkages between the two countries.
During the discussions, both sides agreed on the need to increase trade, improve connectivity, and expand regional cooperation. This visit is being seen as the start of a new chapter in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations after a long period of strained ties.
As part of the visit, Pakistan and Bangladesh signed a number of agreements. These included pacts on trade facilitation, cultural exchange, and youth collaboration. The agreements reflect the intention of both countries to work together for long-term cooperation and stronger relations.
In addition to official meetings, Ishaq Dar also met with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia. He expressed good wishes for her and remembered her historic visit to Pakistan in 2006.
The Foreign Office of Pakistan described Dar’s trip as a milestone in strengthening ties with Bangladesh. Officials highlighted that the visit not only helped build mutual trust but also opened the door for deeper engagement in areas such as economy, culture, and youth development.
