“Quran Gives Sisters a Clear Right to Inheritance, Supreme Court Rejects Brother’s Complaint Against his Sister Getting a Share

The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition filed by a man who challenged his sister’s share in their family inheritance. The court made it clear that women cannot be deprived of the rights given to them under Islamic law.

During the hearing, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan highlighted that sisters are an important part of families and often contribute through their care, services, and responsibilities within the household.

He stressed that such contributions must not be overlooked when it comes to giving them their rightful share of property.

Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, who was heading the bench, pointed out that the Holy Quran has clearly given daughters and sisters a fixed share in inheritance.

He stated that this is a command of Allah, and no one has the authority to deny or change it. According to him, respecting these rules is not just a matter of law but also a matter of faith and justice.

The bench also reviewed the documents related to the property in question. It was found that the distribution papers did not include the sister’s signature, which made the brother’s claim weak and invalid in the eyes of the law.

The absence of her consent in these documents proved that she had not agreed to give up her rights.

After carefully examining the case, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition, confirming that the sister is entitled to her lawful share. The decision once again reinforced that women’s inheritance rights are fully protected under Islamic teachings and cannot be denied.
