Sri Lanka to Play Bilateral ODI Series in Pakistan After Six Years, PCB

Sri Lanka will return to Pakistan later this year for a three-match ODI series, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Monday. The matches will be held in Rawalpindi from November 11 to 15.

This will be Sri Lanka’s first bilateral ODI series in Pakistan in six years, with their last visit for this format taking place in 2019.

The upcoming tour is an important step for Pakistan as it continues to bring international cricket back home. Sri Lanka had previously played in Pakistan during the 2023 Asia Cup, but those matches were part of a regional tournament, not a dedicated bilateral series.

Following this ODI series, Pakistan will host its first-ever T20I tri-series involving Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. That tournament is scheduled between November 17 and 29 and is expected to draw strong interest from fans across the region.

Officials from the PCB noted that these fixtures highlight the growing confidence of international cricket bodies in Pakistan’s security and hosting capabilities.

Over the past few years, the country has worked hard to restore its place as a regular host for international matches, after more than a decade of disruptions.

Cricket fans in Pakistan are welcoming the news with excitement, as it not only provides them a chance to see top-level cricket on home soil but also strengthens sporting ties with Sri Lanka.

The series is being seen as another positive step in the journey of restoring Pakistan as a key venue for international cricket.
