Affan Salman Secures Pakistan’s Fifth World Youth Scrabble Championship Title

Pakistan has celebrated a historic win at the World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC), claiming victory for a record fifth time. Sixteen-year-old Affan Salman led the way, emerging as the World Youth Scrabble Champion during the tournament held in Sri Lanka.

Affan put on an outstanding performance, winning 19 out of 23 games, which secured him the title.This remarkable achievement has made Pakistan the first country to win the WYSC five times, showcasing the nation’s growing dominance in the world of youth Scrabble.

The competition saw a total of 138 players from various countries, all vying for the top spot. Affan Salman proudly waved the national flag as he celebrated his victory, bringing honor to his country.The World Youth Scrabble Championship first began in 2006 in Wollongong, Australia.

Since its inception, players from countries such as Australia, Bahrain, Canada, England, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, the Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States have participated.

The championship is open to anyone under the age of 18 as of January 1 of the tournament year, making it a highly competitive and exciting event for young Scrabble enthusiasts around the world. The tournament has been hosted in various locations, including Malaysia, which has hosted it five times, as well as Australia and Dubai twice each.

Other host countries include the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and the United Kingdom. With this latest victory, Pakistan has once again proven its talent in the international Scrabble scene, and Affan Salman’s win adds another proud chapter to the nation’s success in this global competition.
