Audit Uncovers Rs. 6 Billion Worth of Irregularities in Pakistan Cricket Board

A recent audit by the Auditor General of Pakistan has found serious financial problems in PCB for the 2023–24 financial year. The report says that there were irregularities worth more than Rs. 6 billion.

The audit highlights several major issues. One problem is the hiring of people in questionable ways, like the irregular appointment of a Director Media. The report also points out that money was spent on security meals without proper justification.

Another big issue is related to contracts. The audit says that some contracts were given out without following clear and fair procedures. This lack of transparency raises concerns about how the PCB handles deals with other companies.

The PCB also suffered huge losses in sponsorships and media rights. According to the audit, the board lost Rs. 439 million in media rights and failed to recover about Rs. 5.3 billion in sponsorship funds. This means a lot of money that should have come in to support cricket did not reach the PCB’s accounts.

Because of these findings, the Departmental Accounts Committee has ordered several inquiries into the alleged mismanagement. They want to find out how these issues happened and who is responsible.

These problems have raised serious questions about how the PCB is being run and whether there is enough oversight. Many people believe that fixing these issues is important to ensure that Pakistan’s cricket system remains strong, transparent, and fair for players, fans, and everyone who supports the game.
