Babar Doesn’t Deserve a Place in the T20 Team, Virender Sehwag

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag recently shared his criticism of Pakistan captain Babar Azam following the team’s early exit from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

During the tournament, Babar had a disappointing performance, managing to score only 122 runs with a strike rate of 101.66. His highest score was 44 runs against the United States.

Sehwag expressed his opinion, suggesting that if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decides to remove Babar as the captain for white-ball cricket, then he should also not be considered for T20 International matches. According to Sehwag, a captain’s role is crucial, and if Babar is unable to make significant contributions, he should consider stepping down voluntarily.

In response to these comments, Babar Azam stated that any decision regarding his captaincy would be made transparently and would ultimately be up to the PCB to decide.

The remarks from Sehwag have sparked discussions among cricket fans and experts about the leadership and performance expectations from team captains in international cricket tournaments. Babar’s response indicates his readiness to accept any decision made by the PCB regarding his future role as captain of the Pakistan cricket team.

As the cricketing community continues to analyze Babar Azam’s performance and leadership capabilities, the spotlight remains on the PCB’s upcoming decisions and their potential impact on the team’s future strategies and selections.
